| I would like to expresse my deepest condolences to Anna's family, colleagues... When I read the headline "Russian famoust journalist murdered" on an Estonian Internet site, I was afraid to open the link and I sort of shouted, "Oh no, I fear it's Anna Politkovskaya!" And I remember when I opened the link I said , "Oh HO, OH NO, OH NO, they have done it!". That was such a shock! It happens so seldom that when a person you personally don't know dies, you crie. And then I cried. What's keeping Russia from being a NORMAL, democratic, safe country where people could live and work and not fear for their lives? What? Last week I was at the parents' meeting of my son's class at school. We were discussing where the class should go on a holiday trip. Finally we agreed that the claas woudl go to Sweden. Meanwhile their teacher said, "Russia would be interesting but NO, not not now. Russia is STILL TOO DANGEROUS." What a pity and a shame! WHAT IS GOING ON in the homeland of Pushkin, Lermontov, Dostoyevsky, Rachmaninov, Tshaikovsky etc ? Rest in peace, Anna. We will not forget you, your work, your braveness. Meeri, Estonia. |
